Princess for a Day

In February, there was a Princess for a Day benefiting Pagnozzi Charities.  I knew it would be as close as ME got to Disneyworld for a while, so I grabbed our tickets early.
We ran into several friends while we were there.  Stella was in ME's preschool class.

Storytime with Belle

Poor, poor, bad wig

Nails and borrowed crown

ME and Meredith

Arie's wig was pretty bad too.

But Merida's took the cake.  Ha!

Of course, waiting for Elsa was the main event.

I found this Anna dress on sale at the Disney store in Dallas.  Didn't buy a thing for myself, but walked all over that mall with a Disney bag.

After the fun, she got to choose our lunch place, Mellow Mushroom.

She also won a prize, so we sported our new jewelry at lunch.  Oh my, how I enjoy my one-on-one time with this girl!

Valentine's Day 2015

My friend Jennifer made their adorable Vday outfits.

And "I choo choo choose you" was a sweet handmedown from Miles.

Valentine party at school...she loved signing and decorating a Frozen valentine for each of her friends.  They came with plastic rings, and she carefully chose the one that would be just right for each of her buddies, and we taped it inside.

Valentine weekend Mommy and Daddy got away to Dallas.  Woo hoo!  Brad booked 3 nights at the Adolphus for us and arranged for our good friends from Kentucky, Scott and Kimberly, to fly in and meet us there.  We had dinner at The French Room Friday night.  Yum! Saturday morning I didn't want to be on a schedule because, sleep, duh.  I woke up, and it was dark in our hotel, and I was like dang it!  Why can't I sleep in when I have the chance?  So, I went back to sleep, and when I woke up it was still dark.  I was like are you kidding me?  It's still not daylight.  I got up to go to the bathroom and checked my phone for the time.  It was almost 11 oclock!  We had a window in our hotel room, but there was a brick wall blocking any light that could come in.  I was so thankful for the rest!  I called Kimberly and I was like, "Ummm...we just woke up.  How about lunch at the Cheesecake Factory?" ;)

After lunch we got pedicures ahhh!  And went shopping at Northpark while the boys watched some kind of war movie.

That night Scott made a reservation at a fancy and delish steakhouse. Our getaways are always about the food, obs.

They got to choose their own knives to cut their Wagu beef.  I had yummy lobster mac n cheese and a few bites of Brad's melt in your mouth steak.

Icy weather was in the forecast, so we headed home a day early, but not before we met our friends Jennifer and Will for Sunday brunch.  They live in NWA too, but he happened to be in Ft. Worth for a meeting.

The Friday we went out of town, I celebrated with the kiddos.  Rice Krispie treats for breakfast?  Why not!

Cupid made a little visit

The kids had a big weekend with Gigi and Papa complete with a Valentine party with all of the cousins!

Achilles surgery

Goofing off getting his surgery wrap taken off
Around Thanksgiving, Brad started going to the gym.  Soon he was playing basketball.  He had lost 20 pounds.  By January 18th, he had blown out his Achilles.  He said he was running down the court and turned around to see if anyone was going to pass to him.  He took one step forward and it blew.  He said it felt like he took a baseball bat to the back of the ankle.  He fell down and whipped his head around to see who hit him or threw the ball at him and there was no one there.  He said there was a loud snap.  He knew what he had done, because he felt the area where the Achilles should be, and it was mush.  It was a Sunday afternoon when I got a call from him at the gym saying he "kinda" hurt himself.  "I'm okay," he said, "but Pete's at the hospital, and I'm going to have him check me out."  The kids and I waited and waited, and when I heard the garage door open I said to myself, "please be in a boot, please be in a boot," and then I heard the crutches.  So he had surgery to repair his Achilles and was down for quite a while.  He went from crutches to a cast to a knee scooter to a boot. It did not make winter at our house more pleasant.  I think it was 8 weeks before he could bare weight, and then he had all kinds of physical therapy.  Needless to say, it was a pain in the rear for him and me.  But it could have been so much worse if it had been his back or knee.  The doctor said full recovery is about a year, and maybe, no more basketball. ;)

Snow Days

Helloooo, bloggy world!  Or probably just myself when I reread this some day.  I love to blog, but it has just been on the back burner lately. My mind always has a constant, annoying "to do" list and blogging is on it, but when I get behind it kind of feels like a mountain.  And I haven't had time to climb it until now.  When you're back goes out, there's not a whole lot you can do.  So here, I go...not a lot of editing just a million pictures and trying to remember the high points from last Christmas until now.

We didn't get as much snow this winter as last year, but it was enough to play in a couple times.

It's getting weird in here.
Doesn't take long to go stir crazy in the house though!

Big Hero 6 had just come out on PPV, and we rented it and watched it about 100 times.

This round I enjoyed playtime through the window ;)

We tried to sled down the hill in our neighborhood this day, but it just wasn't the right type of snow.
