Square Dancing 2015

Another year of square dancing in Prairie Grove is in the books!  Rhett got to join a group this year.  He didn't always love practice, and he didn't always listen, but overall he did very well.  And made new friends!  The above picture is of his float driving by in the Saturday morning parade.  Right as they were passing us, someone hit him in the back of the head with a piece of candy.  He's turned around like, "Who hit me in the head?"  It wasn't particularly easy getting him to ride.  For two years, he has been a spectator coming away with bags of candy.  We had been talking for weeks about him "being in" the parade this year.  He kept asking when the candy parade was going to be, but as time drew near and he found out he would be throwing instead of catching the candy, he decided he would rather not ride.  Like on the way to the parade, Brad picked up bags of candy for the kids to throw, and Rhett was so confused.  "Aren't they going to throw candy at US?"  No, you get to throw the candy at the kids watching this year.  "Noooo...I don't want to be in the candy parade."  Then, on the way, I thought, "Ohmygosh, what if he falls off or jumps off or something terrible happens on the trailer."  So, I felt the need to list all the rules and dangers of riding in a parade.  And then he really didn't want to do it.  Brad was like, "You just made it sound like it was no fun and he could die.  No wonder he doesn't want to go."  But, in the end his bag of Tootsie Rolls weren't going to throw themselves, so he followed them onto the trailer so he could have a bite. ;)  I'm pretty sure he ate plenty of candy while onboard.
You can see Mary Ella on the far right.  I held my camera up as they went by and snapped, but apparently I should have looked through the lens because I cut her out of almost every picture.
Don't you just love a small town parade with marching bands and cheerleaders, old cars and tractors, firetrucks, and clowns doing tricks on tiny 3-wheelers? ;)
Ready to dance

Their group was the first to dance, and Rhett and Laney were the first onstage.

Worn out already

Prayer to begin

I love this one!

Go across the hall and take a little peek

Turn around you're going wrong..."uh oh!" they say

That right hand star was tricky ;)

Rhett bowed

and bowed
and bowed

  • So cute...for the first week or so of practice, when Zeke or Landry would say "skip,"  Rhett would say, "I can't skip," and stand there.  We finally learned to use the word gallop, and he took off.

Look at him and Ellie holding hands :)

Mary Ella's turn...this was the third year her group has danced together, and they really did some fun and challenging moves.

Put a little sunshine in your mouth

Love these two together
So sweet

She twirled with all the boys.

This was some kind of rainbow twirl.

Some iphone pics...

I was so glad Mia came to town for the weekend and made it to both performances.  After it was all done on Monday, we celebrated with Chinese food and ice cream.  You can tell Rhett enjoyed his chocolate cone.
