40 Weeks

 40 Weeks
This is a goofy pic...he won't be still for a second!
She came in with this look and said, "I want to be a painter and a cook."
This was the week of Mary Ella's birthday.  It had its high and low points, fun times and disappointments.  You never can count on plans going through when you have little ones...and the stomach bug hits your house...
Monday started out all fine and well.  Lillie's babysitter for the summer started back to school, so I told Raina we would be happy to have her hang out with us until we left for Arkansas Thursday (for ME's party weekend).  So, Monday we painted and made cookies and played outside.
I found the cutest princess cookie cutters: shoe, crown, and castle

Lillie was such a good playmate for Mary Ella.

Flour on the nose and cheeks and chin

Monday, August 6th, 2 days after his 9 month birthday, Rhett started crawling.  Not on hands and knees, but he pulled himself all over the kitchen while we decorated our cookies.
Crawling to Mama

Yay! He made it!

And then he tasted every chair leg in the kitchen...my house will never be clean enough!

Tuesday was ME's bday, and I've already written about that.  Rhett got sick after his nap, so we cancelled all our plans for Wednesday.  He was fine except for having nasty diapers for a few days after.  I think is just took his tummy some time to get back to normal.  Thursday, we were supposed to be leaving for Arkansas, but Brad needed to be in meetings Friday morning, so we switched gears and made appointments to get our hair did before the party weekend.

Jennifer at Watercolor did a fab job on ME

Then it was my turn, and ME decided she needed to take a picture of me.  Brad came and got her while I got my hair done.  And I'm not going to lie, as I was getting ready for our appointments I was feeling nauseous, but I was pretending that everything was going to be okay.  But as soon as I got home, Brad came out in the garage and told me ME had thrown up during supper. I knew it was coming for me too, and I felt so bad for exposing everyone at Watercolor Salon.  I bathed the girl and layed in the bed with her and watched cartoons until bedtime. She didn't get sick again, but I did.  I took a finnagrin and went to bed and tried not to think about the impending effects on the party weekend.  We made it through the night just fine.  When I got up the next morning I didn't feel like I was going to be sick again, but I did feel the way you feel the day after.  I knew we needed a pj day, and I wasn't sure if we were up for an 8 hour drive.  Brad stayed home, and we talked to Rita.  I called Rick's Bakery, and they said they needed to know that morning whether or not to start ME's cake for the next day.  We decided to cancel for fear of getting sick on the road or bringing it with us.  We watched cartoons all day and had a pretty lazy weekend.  It was not the weekend we had hoped for, and honestly it was pretty depressing.  It's a good thing Jenn sent a little happy for ME to open on her actual birthday, because it's the only gift she's opened.  And it's a good thing we got Gigi's cupcakes on her birthday, because it's the only cake she's had.  And you know what, she's fine with that.  A coloring book and stickers from the Dollar Store and a $3 cupcake, and she's happy.  But Mommy's not.  I want my Cinderella party!
