Savannah, Georgia

This past weekend we took a trip to Savannah with our friends, Scott and Kimberly. The weekend was in celebration of Kimberly's 30th birthday, and it was so good to see old friends. I guess it was also a babymoon for Brad and me, because I'm pretty sure I won't be traveling too far from home this summer. Savannah is absolutely beautiful, rich in history and low country culture. We loved the old homes, cobblestone streets, hanging moss, and the parks that seemed to be on every block. Above is a picture from our first night at River House Seafood. We ate there twice because of the praline cheesecake! Another one of our favorite's was the Savannah Candy Kitchen. Yum!
We stayed at the East Bay Inn, right across from the River Street Market. Our hotel used to be a cotton warehouse and was supposedly haunted by a ghost named Charlie. Our room had 18 foot ceilings and gorgeous crown molding. We were right in the middle of everything.

Of course a trip to Savannah wouldn't be complete without a visit to The Lady and Sons. It is totally worth the wait in line. Our favorites were the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, macaroni and cheese, cheese biscuits, and hoecakes. Brad saw Jamie in the restaurant that day, but I missed him!

We were stuffed!

We visited Tybee Beach and found some great shells for Scott and Kimberly's girls. Loved getting my toes in the sand, but the water was freezing!

Tybee Island Lighthouse

We climbed to the top of the lighthouse. 178 stairs! The view was beautiful!

We had a fancy dinner at the historic Elizabeth's on 37th Street. Can you tell this trip was all about the food? We did alot of walking, eating, and shopping. Hope you had a wonderful birthday, Kimberly!
