Christmas 5 of 2012

Cole and Jenn came to Mississippi the day after Christmas.  They stayed for a few days and had Christmas with us.  Mama was supposed to come, but she was still sick.  So, we had to re-schedule Christmas again with her.  My cousin gave me a gingerbread pan and mix for Christmas, so I made it and let Mary Ella decorate it with Super Uncle Cole and Aunt Jenn.  This was the day after we got home.  We stayed in pajamas all day and played with new toys.  I unpacked and did about 100 loads of laundry.

All done

You can see the wild man's not happy in this photo.
The very next day, I made Christmas dinner, and we ate in the dining room on Mimi's Christmas china.  Cole and I have had many Christmas dinners at this table together.  When it's your turn to be the hostess, you realize how much work your grandmothers put into making those holiday meals for the whole family.  This year ME got to sit at the big table...maybe next year I'll trust her with the silver and china. ;)

Think I love my brother much?  I did all of this for him.

Dressing, peas, corn, crawfish-stuffed chicken, sweet potato casserole, rolls

After dinner, we opened presents from Cole and Jenn.  This is also when the kids opened their gifts from us.

She has enjoyed all the puzzles she got for Christmas!  I think this one has 24 pieces, and she can do it ALL by herself!

Candyland became an instant favorite.

They thought Super Uncle Cole needed help with his gifts.

Five down, one more to go!

Christmas 4 of 2012- Santa

We traveled on Christmas Day, so the day after Christmas was when Santa came to our house.  We hadn't prepared cookies, so he got stuck with stale Oreos from the gas station and whipping cream for milk was all that was in our fridge.  Mary Ella said she thought that he would come down the chimney in the kitchen, so that's where we left them.  And she thought the reindeer would land in the backyard, so that is where we sprinkled the reindeer food.

Santa was so tired after a long day of travel, but he was still excited to put toys for a good little girl and a good little boy under this tree!
Another castle, Legos, and books for ME

A Mickey airplane, blocks, and books for Rhett

Stockings stuffed with movies, toys, and more books

Buddy, our elf, left ME an ornament and a note saying how much he enjoyed watching her play.  See ya next year, Buddy!  She also received a note from Santa praising her for good behavior.  He also encouraged her to remember to share with her brother!

We had to wake her up to get the party started, so Brad could get to work.  We were waiting with cameras on the couch.  I'm pretty sure she JUMPED out of bed and hit the floor running when we called.

Waking up brother

He loves his Mickey plane!

Checking out sister's loot

Love that she loves books!

He enjoys the castle as much as she does!

And vice versa!

Stocking time!

Cinderella II and III and The Little Mermaid

This Eric Carle book is the cutest thing!

Rhett is on the phone with Elmo.
Yay for (the day after) Christmas morning!
